A Guide to Sending Flowers

Flowers have been the perfect way to convey an array of emotions on different occasions for a long time. Giving flowers to a loved one shows how much one appreciates them. Similarly, giving flowers to someone who is grieving or sick conveys emotional support. However, many people fail to understand the symbolism of flowers and this leads to a misrepresentation of their message. To avoid that from happening, send flowers to China only after going through the guide below.

Get Well Soon

When choosing flowers for a sick family member, relative or friend, the kind of flowers depends on whether the recipient is at a hospital or at home. If the person is in a hospital then it is better to avoid choosing highly fragrant flowers. Tulips, Irises and Gladioli bouquets work very well. If the person is at home, sending bright house plants would lift their spirits as the colour green symbolises well-being and health. Marigolds are also a good option.

Funerals

One must be extra careful when sending flowers to a funeral home. The flowers should comfort the grieving family of the deceased. Usually large and formal arrangements of Chrysanthemums, Lilies, and Roses serve as a tribute. The colour of the flowers matters too. Avoid sending orange or red coloured flowers. Blue, white, and green are good on these occasions as they convey peace, humility, and calmness. To send flowers to convey sympathy after the funeral send Lilies, Daisies, and Roses in a smaller arrangement. Pink, blue and yellow colours can invoke feelings of rebirth and hope.

Birthdays

Flowers for birthdays should signify joy and friendship. Each month has a specific flower as listed below.

 January- Carnation
 February-Violet
 March- Daffodil
 April- Daisy
 May- Lily
 June- Rose
 July- Larkspur
 August- Gladiolus
 September- Aster
 October- Marigold
 November- Chrysanthemum
 December- Poinsettia
Yellow flowers are great for friends as they symbolize friendship, joy, and optimism. Avoid yellow carnations.

Dates

The idea of bringing flowers on the first date has become obsolete but is acceptable if one has already gone out with the person a few times before. Orchids, Tulips, and Dandelions are the most welcoming yet no overwhelming flowers for a date. To spare the trouble of having to carry around the bouquet, bring the flowers at their door so that they can keep it at home.

Special Festivities

Holidays are when flowers are exchanged the most. The most popular flowers for holidays, Christmas included, are Red Poinsettia, Amaryllis, and Paperwhites. These flowers represent good cheer and success.

For Mother’s Day go for Pink Carnations, which represent gratitude and love, Red Carnations, which convey admiration, and Gerbera Daisies, that symbolise cheerfulness.

Valentine’s Day is a special occasion in a relationship. If the relationship is a new one then Lavender Roses are the way to go. Roses are a good option for married couples and also if a relationship has stood the tests of time. If she is not into Roses then Tulips can communicate the love instead.

Keep the above guide in mind before you send flowers to Beijing or anywhere else in China. Flowers can set the mood of any event and lift the souls of the depressed ones. Choose the correct flower for every event to make it special.
